I had to make a presentation from a contemporary artist from my country. I chose this guy because my brother recommended him, and after reading about him and his works I was happy to have chosen him. His works in Serra Pelada, Brazil, and the six years old project in Rwanda made me read a lot more about him and his works. I learned too that he was in Sweden, and did a very interesting project with local artists. Later, he burned everything as part of the art.

MCA Reflection
It's funny when you walk by something everyday and you don't know what it is until you find out what it is. In my case it was the MCA. I liked this place much more than AIC in everyway possible. I realize that I enjoy more that kind of art instead of paintings. From a "piece of rock" to some awesome lights that mix to create more light of different colors. The gift shop was quite good, it wasn't like all the other museum gift shop that I have been to in the past. This one had more "normal" things in my opinion.
I would definitly recommend, and even come back again for a tour.

Art 21
Season 1: Identity - Stairways
I chose the work of Bruce Naumar because I found very interesting how he works with such a common object as stairs. The way he do it even makes see the stairs like in 3-D.
Season 2: Humor - Eleanor Antin - The Last Days of Pompeii
Her work reminded me somehow of ancient Greece. She said that the world could be turn into humor if he wanted to. I agree with her. Life would be so much fun and peaceful that way, but sadly it doesn't work that way. Her work "The Last Days of Pompeii" made me think of ancient Greece.

Season 3: Power - David Allen Gier - Goofines
He explain that being goof is always fun. If he can put that into his art then is all right plus he acts funny in the video.
Season 4: Romance - Laurie Simmens - Emotion, Fantasy
I chose this artist because what she said is what I always think. Reacting differently is a common thing for humans, but sadly not everyone knows that.
Season 5: Fantasy - Florian Maieraichen - Bear and Policemen
I only chose this theme because of the photo of the policeman and the bear. I found it funny how she represent domination.

AIC II
Shiva Nataraja, the Lord of the Dance. Amazing piece of art from 1000 B.C. This time, I can really say that i enjoy the trip to the AIC since it was art that was so old, and since I'm into the old things I quite enjoyed it. My partner this time was Wen, we had "The God Shiva" to present. I knew a little bit about Shiva and the dance because I had read some of the religion behind it in high school and in a few websites. The first thought that it came to my mind was "Nirvana" NOT with Kurt Cobain, but with the Buddhist religion.
I didn't know the name of the dance that Shiva is doing, but I did knew that it was the dance of destruction, and with the help of the audio tour, which was very helpful, I learned that the guy that was on the floor was a demon.
I wouldn't mind visiting the AIC again to see some of these kind of art again or maybe some medieval art.

Movie Review - Pollock
After a few headaches I finally got my hands on the movie "Pollock" The actor that plays Pollock is very talented. I was very surprised with the movie. It was actually a good movie. Harris, the actor, made the movie go into another level. After watching the movie I went to read about Pollock, and I found out that as many artist, he faced almost the same end as Elvis, and other artists which is quite tragic. I would recommend this movie to anyone that is into art and whoever that is not. The movie is quite dramatic and interesting to watch.

AIC Trip Reflection
It was my first time going to the AIC. I didn't know what to expect from it, but it was more interesting than i thought. At the beginning, I thought it was just like another museum. The fun part was when we were given the task of explaining a painting. When the class was moving from painting to painting, one guide was at the painting I was supposed to talked about, so I stayed with the group to listen to what was the painting about since I had my theory and a few questions. It was very interesting to heard the story, and the meaning of the painting. It gave me a complete different understanding of it. The facts that the guy falling from the window didn't died, he died instead from an overdose. Interesting fact. When we were walking I saw this chess board (love chess) and I found out that it was made of gold.
It was a fun, and interesting day since I didn't expected that much from it, I was wrong.
